Annual Professional Skills Development Seminar for Imams & Chaplians: A Great Success

The first Annual Professional skills Development Seminar was indeed a great success. It took place on May 19, 2008 at the Bosnian Islamic Center in Etobicoke, Toronto. It was attended by over 25 imams from the GTA, Kingston and Waterloo.The seminar started with a wonderful Bosnian Lunch and sweets prepared by Imam Tayib and Imam Najat and their families.

Thereafter, Imam Hamid Slimi, the chairman of the council, opened the seminar by emphasizing the importance of such seminars especially in the North American context and then he presented the first session. The seminar featured different Professional speakers and various sessions of almost one hour each including Q & A. The sessions covered the following areas:
- Legal Issues (conducted by a Lawyer)
- Image & Communication (Conducted by and Image Consultant)
- Media Issues (Conducted by a National Television Producer)
- Finance and issues of consultation (Conducted by Financial Analysts)
- Accounting issues and Tax Benefits and Deductions (Conducted by An Accountant)

By the present, we thank all the participants and their wonderful presentations. We also thank the imams and the host as well as the Bosnian Islamic Center Staff and administration.
